(Justin Sullivan/Getty Images) If you had listened to NOAA back in October you would have heard that above average temperatures in the West and Continued Drought Conditions in Southern California would rule the day. Fortunately, they were not correct. ""Blizzards have pounded the Sierra Nevada, burying the towering mountain range in massive amounts of snow. On the eastern side of the range, for example, the Mammoth Mountain resort reported nearly 47.8 feet of snow at the summit so far this season."" So much for snow being a rare event. The unfortunate problem as you can see above is when things start to warm up and the snow begins to melt and you get rain with it..
