Such was not the case in Virginia where up to 10 inches of snow fell leaving many motorists stranded. Some, even spending the night in their vehicles. In fact a 50 mile stretch of I-95 was shut down between exits 104 and 152. Not too mention, "The storm brought havoc to roadways, left more than 300,000 without power in Virginia and Maryland and caused at least five deaths across three states."

Virginia Senator, Tim Kaine, who's "Climate Record is All Over The Map" was also was also stuck for quite some time. His journey took approximately 27 Hours. Makes you wonder if he was rethinking his stance on Global Warming. But I doubt it. In any event, "VDOT officials also wrote on Twitter on Monday night. “It's frustrating & scary. Please know our crews don't stop."

"The massive traffic jam on I-95 in Virginia came during a record-breaking snowstorm, and some people were trapped for hours as long as 24 hours." 

This was in no doubt a challenging episode for those stuck and spinning their wheels on the ice and snow. Fortunately however, there were not any reports of serious injuries or death including the accident which started the shutdown.

If snow is something you enjoy then look to California and Palisades Tahoe! There you will find tons of Snow and Record setting Snowfall amounts this past December. "Exceptional snowfalls over the past fortnight has taken December totals past the 199 inches (5 metres / nearly 17 feet) for at least one resort in California, others are getting close to that total."

Huge Storms, Blocked Roads, Buried Buildings, Winds up 120 Miles Per Hour and Cold Temperatures are also all part of a December to remember on the Mountains of California and into parts of the Rockies! While the record setting snowfall totals came mostly in the second half of the month it is a reminder that Mother Nature has a mind of it's own.

Looks Like NYC and the Mid Atlantic States are in for a little Weather come Sunday Night and into Monday. In fact AccuWeather is forecasting as many as 4-8 Inches in Baltimore and 6-10 inches in Washington DC.

​First, I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and will continue to enjoy this Holiday Season as much as possible under the circumstances. Yes, it is true we are living through some very tough times but it is my hope that we will be getting past this COVID event in the very near future! However, if were you dreaming of a White Christmas and that is your immediate concern then just maybe a little white rain will have helped brightened up your spirits. Of course, if your dreams of a White Christmas did not come true, there is always next year. Not too mention, Spring is still a ways off and Little Christmas is coming up on Wednesday January 06, 2021. Perhaps, Little Christmas may be your second chance at a White Christmas!

.In any event several cities did see some white stuff over Christmas. Even my Cousin Maryanne in Carmel NY had gotten 9.5 inches plus of snow a week before Christmas back on December 17, 2020. Buffalo, New York received a 5.5 inches of Snow on Christmas Day.

"According to records kept at the National Weather Service Office in Buffalo, this ranks as the sixth-snowiest Christmas Day since 1980 and ninth-snowiest since 1943, when snow depth records began." Of course adding insult to injury "Buffalo saw more snow the following day, with a record 15.4 inches of snow falling by 2 p.m., easily surpassing the mark of 10.7 inches that fell on Dec. 26, 1956, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Alumbaugh."

Parts of Cleveland got hit hard on Christmas Eve with up to a foot of Snow. Pittsburg also set a new Christmas Day record, recording 5.1 inches of Snow breaking the old record of 3.5 inches of Snow set in 1935. Making this Christmas Day the Snowiest Christmas Day ever according to 11 News WPXI. Yes, there were records set all over the place making the idea that Snow, being a Thing of The Past is more likely to be more common in future!

Bogus Basin, a "501 (c)(3) charitable organization" has seen an incredible amount of snow this year and ski season is not yet under way! As of November 13 they have already seen 2 feet plus of snow with more on the way. The Ski area is scheduled to open November 27th but “In my 32 years at Bogus Basin, I’ve never seen so much snow this early in the season,” said Nate Shake, director of Mountain Operations, in a news release. While it is still too early to tell and just before Thanksgiving, it looks winter this year will not be any different than any other year! In fact the Lyon County Sheriff's Office recently reported 13 inches of White Rain. The South Lake Tahoe reported a Temperature of 5 Degrees just before Midnight. That beats a record of 9 Degrees from 1997.

If you would like to know what Grand Solar Minimums are made of look no further than the University of Colorado where they received 17 inches of fluffy white stuff! While the snow is not expected to last since we are still in August, keep in mind that; "Parts of Colorado and New Mexico reported their earliest snowfall on record." Some call this type of weather Climate Disruption. The Fact is this is the type of weather one would expect as fall back into a time period known as the Little Ice Age where we experienced 4 GSM's between 1300 and 1850.

Are you serious? "Snow in May? Historic storm could hit Northeast this Weekend." "On Friday, a storm system moving into the Northeast will clash with bitter cold Arctic air courtesy of the polar vortex, bringing the potential for heavy, wet snow to the region. Heavy rain is possible along the I-95 corridor."

Yet as we tip toe through Spring and march towards Summer, we are once again reminded that Snow is not a thing of the past. However, it is more likely going to be a bigger part of our future than Global Warming Alarmists would like to admit. In fact, this weekend, Mothers Day Weekend may be another chilling example of what is to come as we descend further into The Modern Day Grand Solar Minimum.

Now, the GSM may not be on the minds of most people, but the idea that historic snowfall totals are possible for parts of the North East and New England are definitely a concern especially if you have already put your snow shovel and winter clothing in storage. To add insult to injury, record low temperatures are also expected this weekend.

The question is. What do you expect? Many who are on the opposite side of the AGW Argument have warned and pointed out the signs that we are not just headed for an average cooling cycle which would normally last 27-35 years. But a long term Solar Shutdown that could last for Centuries with only brief periods of warming. This situation could be similar and in fact worse than the four Grand Solar Minimums experienced between 1280 and 1850. Unfortunately for us, this is because we are further along into the Holocene Epoch. In the mean time if you have chosen to stay indoors due to the Coronavirus Outbreak, this will serve as another reminder that forthcoming Generations will be in perpetual hibernation thanks to the next series of Grand Solar Minimums which will bring us more Outbreaks, Plagues, Ungodly Snow and Cold the likes Society has not experienced since the The Little ice Age. Oh! And yes! When the Sun goes into long periods of Solar Hibernation it affects our Planet in many way. This also includes Erratically behaving disease from Bacteria and Viruses; Frequent Crop Failures and upticks in Volcanic Activity for starters. The fact is we are not prepared for a long term cooling trend. The IPCC, Al Gore, Greta, Michael Mann, James Hansen and Bill Nye "The Lack of Science Guy" have spent and wasted so much time, money and energy on Man Made Global Warming we don't know if it's Tuesday or August! Or in this case March or May!

April is now over, but it when out with enough snow to remind us that Snow is not exactly A thing of The Past. In fact, about a foot of Snow fell in the Adirondacks and 14 Inches in Ostego County.

Deer who are one the most beautiful Animals we have in North America are struggling to survive facing deep snow in regions where snow for extended periods of time can be two and sometimes three feet deep. While winter does challenge the Deer Population during normal Winter Seasons, prolonged snow depths where Deer cannot reach much needed vegetation has a number of negative side affects. In fact "In a normal winter about 10% of deer perish. But in the winter of 1995-96, among the worst on record, with winter severity indices over 200, more than 40% of adult does perished." This past winter too has made it tough for the Deer Population in and around Duluth Minnesota. The deeper the snow the tougher it is on the animals physical condition. As the winter goes on and the snow gets deeper it does not get any easier for the Deer Population.
