One unfortunate side effect of Grand Solar Minimums is the affect Hail Storms have on Property and Crops. Hail over the past couple of years has increased not so much in frequency but size. As they say, it's not really the frequency which is important but the size. Sound familiar? In fact Tennis Ball size Hail if you can imagine was reported in Springfield Colorado on May 26th. According to the Related Article below dated March 18th, 2019 "​Hail causes about $10 billion in damage in North America every year..." and "Generally, 5 percent of storms carry hail at least 3 inches in diameter.....Last year, 14 percent of storms carried hail that big" That is a big problem if you live in area at risk for frequent hail events. Of course it remains to be seen if this trend continues and 3 inch size hail continues to increase through the summer of 2019. By the way have you ever wondered what it would feel like to get hit by Hail close to the size of a Tennis Ball? I don't!!! Just stay tuned to this news feed for more info. Hail can create tremendous damage to anything that a hail storms dumps on. This includes but of course not limited to Crops, Windshields and Structures. However, just like snow is not going to be a thing of the past, I hope you do not expect Hail to be a thing of the past either. One insurer cancelled the Hail Policies of Hundreds of farmers. In fact Crop Pro Insurance Service of Johnston, Iowa was fined $50,000 and will not be allowed to reapply in the state for a Licence for 5 years. Just so everyone knows Hail while a common phenomenon will increase and become more severe as The Grand Solar Minimum we are entering worsens.
